The Leonore Annenberg Institute for Civics at the Annenberg Public Policy Center is pleased to announce that the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History has received its 2022 award for its project “The Right to Vote: The Role of States and the U.S. Constitution.” The project will include a series of essays written by eminent historians for high school students that will explore the role of state government and the U.S. Constitution with regard to voting rights; lesson plans that include an active civics component in which students will discuss and debate contemporary voting-rights issues, then write to their state representatives; traveling and digital voting rights exhibitions; teacher professional development on voting rights; and a Voting Rights National Forum on Constitution Day 2023.
