STREET LAW: Teachers break out into groups for discussions at the Street Law Summer Institute for Law Teachers. Street Law piloted its summer institute for law teachers in 2019. The two-day institute is designed to help high school law teachers improve their knowledge of law-related content and use effective strategies to foster student civic engagement.
STREET LAW: Social studies teachers from across the country participate in Street Law’s 25th annual Supreme Court Summer Institute, organized by Street Law Inc. and the Supreme Court Historical Society. Constitutional law and Supreme Court experts led teachers in discussions, simulations and activities. Participants also toured the Supreme Court and listened to the justices’ decisions. Their six days were spent immersed in educational activities related to teaching about the Supreme Court.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE: Students participate in a YLI program at the Shenandoah Valley Governor’s School. The semester program focused on having political discussions across the community and ended with a school-wide, student-led discussion about the Pledge of Allegiance.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE: A young woman dressed as Mark Twain represents the state of Missouri at the Midterm Mock Election Results Show in the State House in Annapolis, Md. The Youth Leadership Initiative and America’s Mock Election co-sponsored the event.
